Friendsgiving Dinner!!!

"We must be ready at any time or season in life; not just to pursue an event,
but to strive for lifelong labor for the sake of His name among the nations."

Yes, always be ready, when you see the need, meet the need;
don't expect somebody see the need because you are that "somebody"
See the need of the international students, not just spiritually but also physically,
this Thanksgiving break I decided to stay on campus, cook and invite them to come for good food!

Why do so?
I asked my self more than you could ever imagine, why to give myself such work to do,
while everyone goes traveling, goes home or friends' home for break?
Why am I preparing this while no idea how many people will show up?
Why am I doing this which may cause me to spent more than I should?
Why am I doing something which doesn't see the benefit or gain nothing from it?

"Because I love you......" That's what God answered.
He loves me, blesses me so that I can bless others with what I have, and share the love with people around me.
Surprisingly, when I decided to do so, He prepared everything I need, money, transportation, helpers, and people!
I don't even need to spend any money on the food, drinks, paper plates, and utensils.
He just prepared angels gave me money generously so I can buy all the ingredients that I need!
Not only that, with that amount of money, I was able to feed everyone from Wednesday night to Saturday night!!
Praise the Lord!
We shared things that we are thankful for, prayed for the food, and enjoy our meal!
Some people didn't manage to come last minutes, but still,
we have a very diverse group of students, students come from Kenya, China, Argentina, Serbia, Germany, Cameroon, Mali, and Malaysia.
What an interesting group! Fun to learn their country, get a better understanding of their culture!

Experienced God's grace and blessing, again and again through this Thanksgiving,
I may have my ideal Thanksgiving, but He taught me to trust in Him and follow His lead!
Everything turns out great and meaningful! Best Thanksgiving ever! (well, this is only the second one)
So grateful and thankful for those who put this together!!!
May we experience God's love and overflowing blessings together in the year ahead!

Friendsgiving- Hotpot night!

Found out some international students have nowhere to go during the break, so decided to cook and serve them.
Planned to do it on Thursday, but on Wednesday, some people started to ask me. Since two friends of mine from Newberry came visit and spent Thanksgiving with me. So, yes~ I will cook!

Decided to make hotpot, easier and faster!
Invited Florian, Hector and Angelica come join us, altogether 6 people, we ate from 7pm to 9pm.....hahahha...... Hector was surprised by how I cook this with the rice cooker, he said he has a rice cooker but never know there're some other functions other than just cook rice. Hahahaha!!! I guess, he learned new thing tonight!!!Great time!!! Santiago and Rory joined us later, so it was fun!

Listened to Latin music, and enjoy the food and conversation, get to know everyone better!

Simple night delighted by great people and great food!

Car Insurance

Finally, manage to go get insurance quotation for my car.... The previous one I found was too expensive!
So, this time, Eric took me to the insurance company, and ask for the car-quotation.
Went to Allstate, surprisingly they gave us a good price, and that will not be a huge burden for me financially.
Wohooo!!!!!!!
What's next?! Gonna confirm this by January, get my car licenses, and car title, then everything is set and ready to go!
Keep me in prayer! Especially this car was here since the beginning of this semester, and nothing was done!!!
I'm a lazy person especially comes to something I'm not familiar with, pray that everything goes smoothly when I come back from break!

TED x Hickory

TED, also stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design.
This is a media organization which posts inspiring talks online for free distribution, with the vision of "Ideas worth spreading"

This is unbelievable!!!
When my professor mentioned this and said we can be a volunteer if we want to listen to the TED talk.
Didn't think too much, just signed in to be a volunteer, because never know when is the next time I can be part of this event.
Get to know the community, learned valuable ideas, motivated by the inspiring people, love it!!!!

Innov 828

Is a simple night to learn from our current incubates as they share their entrepreneurship ideas, plans, and goals.
A lot of deep questions and reasonable thoughts, can't wait to see their business spread out and make it real!

Chinese Culture in Motion

The Chinese nation is united by the common root of Chinese people. The profound Chinese culture is not limit in mainland China nor overseas. Throughout the generations, Chinese people work their best to preserve the culture although they moved to the different country.

That's why I'm proud to be Malaysian Chinese, especially I'm the six generation who still fluence in Mandarin, read, speak and write. Not only that, also able to communicate with three other Chinese dialects because that's what we speak at home or with friends. What makes us unique is, we do not just keep the language, but also the tradition, festival, and food.

"Chinese Culture in Motion" is just a start, to show how Chinese people able to communicate with each other no matter where they came from, with a different background, but with the language we speak, the song we sing, that bring us together.

So glad our show "Chinese Culture in Motion" had a good turnout! Decided not to dance as much as I did before in Malaysia because that's not what I major in, and also time to consume, so I didn't dance ever since I came to the US, except mime in Lifegame. Thanks for Melody's trust, support and encourage, I was able to stand on the stage to present a Hakka song and have a duet dance. Thanks to everyone who made this happen and all who came to the show and show support to us.

Especially thanks Melody's hard work for putting this show together. My friends were impressed and didn't expect I will dance and sing~!!! Hahaha.... surprise! Anyway, still trying to stay low key and stay humble. This is definitely not the last, but I don't think I will dance anytime soon, so we'll see!

Let's meet Haley!!

This is Haley, she is a staff of International Bridges in UNC Charlotte.
After she heard my idea/ vision which is to start International Bridges on this campus, she called me and decided to pay a visit to our campus.
As if God put an angel to come and lead me and guide me because I have no idea what to do, how to start, or where to start.
She came and talked to me, asked me multiple questions to see my motive, my heart and my relationship with God.

Remember I told her I have nothing to start this ministry, but prayer.
She answered me by saying: Yea, but guess what, that's all you need.

She introduced different tools and recourses that I can choose to use depends on which one works the best on our campus and on our students.
It was an awesome time with her, having a deep conversation, prayers, and sharing!
Thank God for Haley, I'm so grateful for her support and heart for the International students!
Keep praying for this and we will see how God is going to stir up the heart of the students and start this ministry for His glory on our campus!

Fast pitch event

Tuesday evening, went to Fast Pitch Event.
So, for those who have no idea what this is about, basically, this is open to anyone who has an idea, have one minute to market their concept.
The audience receives fake money to vote for their favorite concept. The top ten ideas will receive $100 gift card. Sounds fun right?!
Any ideas~~~ hahaha..... as long as it's logic to the audience.
In the end, we all went up and gave a fast pitch! hahahah....
Good job, guys!

West African drum and dance!

I love cultural things so much!!!
So, it is our International cultural week, so we have a bunch of interesting events going on our campus!
This is one of the interesting events! West African drum and dance!!
Enjoy the rhythm, the beat and also the dance!
One of my favorites is the Kora performance! This is a string instrument from West Africa, it sounds like harps! So peaceful and calm~
We get to learn some simple words and sing along, and some students were invited to get on stage and dance!
Love it!!!
